A World of Moss

Saiho-ji (« Kokedera ») is a place where time becomes visible.
Over centuries, moss gradually replaced the original landscape, turning chance into beauty. The pond traces the character 心, meaning both heart and mind. Before entering, visitors copy a Buddhist sutra by hand, slowing their pace before the garden reveals itself. These photographs seek to preserve that quiet encounter.
